19eleven
How do you name a building with a 122 year history? It’s a daunting task to honor that many years’ worth of history and find a name that encompasses it all. The new owner of 1911 11th Street came to Oblique with just this task. He had bought the historic building with the intent of keeping the historic facade intact, while turning the interior into ultra-modern high-end office space.
We dug into the building’s history and proposed a wide range of names, including: The Grain Yard on Eleventh, Tungsten Corner, The Crag and The New Brick Building. What we learned is that sometimes the simplest of names has the greatest effect. We’re proud to introduce 19eleven and the simple, sophisticated logo that will appear on the building’s signage. We think the understated elegance of this new brand is the perfect match for the building itself.
